Dongargarh – A Religious Place Dongargarh
Dongargarh is a small city in Rajnandgaon district in the state of Chhattisgarh. Dongargarh is one of the most famous pilgrim place in the district. Dongargarh is situated at a distance of 106 Km from Raipur, 67 Km from Durg and 35 Km from Rajnandgaon and is home to some of the most beautiful and majestic Mountains and Ponds. The word Dongargarh comes from two words: “Dongarh” means Mountain and “Garh” meaning Fort, However you will not found much of fort at that place.
Important Places of Dongargarh
Maa Bamleshwari Devi Temple: Situated on the hill top, at a height of 1600ft high is the main attraction of this place. Devotees flock at this place during Navratri to get the blessings of God. Another attraction is the Ropeway which leads to the temple.
Jain Temple: Adding more value to the religious place, an another Jain temple has been constructed on Chandragiri hills with the blessings of saint Acharya Shri Vidyasagar Ji Maharaaj.
Pragyagiri: This is one of the most important place for Buddhist devotees. The temple of Pragyagiri sits on the hills at a height of 650m above the ground level. The temple has a Buddha statue which is 30 ft high. Reaching the temple is a bit of workout as one has to climb 225 steps to reach the temple.
